Trabzonspor striker, Paul Onuachu is set to replace the injured Umar Sadiq in Nigeria’s squad at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Sadiq sustained a knee injury in Nigeria’s friendly against Guinea, ruling him out of the competition.
The Player becomes the third member of the squad to be ruled out of the competition after being called up, along with Wilfred Ndidi and Victor Boniface.
Onuachu was initially named in Nigeria’s provisional 41-man squad, but, he did not make the final cut.
Onuachu, 29, missed the 2021 AFCON finals due to injury, but was part of the squad in 2019 that secured a third-place finish.
