Striker Victor Boniface has been forced to withdraw from Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The forward sustained a muscular injury during a training session in Abu Dhabi, rendering him unavailable for the tournament.
Former Nigerian international Sunday Oliseh however expressed disappointment over the loss, emphasizing that a player of Boniface’s caliber would be sorely missed on the field.
“I have watched Boniface closely all season, and he is simply an extraordinary player.
“Him missing AFCON will be a bad blow for Us. We need to have him fit at all cost as he is in my opinion, Definitely one of Naija’s best hopes” Oliseh said.
With the forward expected to be out of action for at least six weeks, the head coach Jose Peseiro has extended invitation an invitation to OGC Nice forward Terem Moffi.
