Super Eagles a Threat to Ivory Coast — Drogba

Ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations next year, former Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba says Nigeria is one of the team’s to watch out for.

Drogba believes the Super Eagles are a formidable threat to the host nation’s title aspirations.

The Three-time African Champions are in Group A with Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau.

Seeking their third AFCON title, Ivory Coast will face a talented Nigerian side, boasting the prowess of reigning African Footballer of The Year, Victor Osimhen, in their second game.

“There’s no such thing as a generous draw because all the teams deserve to be here and they’re going to fight,” Drogba told the BBC.

“Nigeria, with Victor Osimhen and all the players they have, is a big team. We mustn’t forget the other two teams because there are always surprises.

“I think that our main asset will be to focus on our game, our team, our strengths and try to progress.

“It’s up to us to make the most of it, get behind our team and make sure the trophy stays at home,” He concluded.

Nigeria defeated Ivory Coast in the quarter-final on their way to winning the 2013 AFCON hosted by South Africa.
