Celtic plots Wilfred Ndidi transfer – Latest Sports News In Nigeria
According to reports, Ndidi’s time at King Power Stadium could come to an end this summer, with Scottish Premiership Champions Celtic the latest club to show interest in the Nigerian international.
Ndidi arrived at Leicester six-and-a-half years ago from Genk in Belgium at the age of just 20, and later became one of the most important players at the Club, helping the Foxes win the FA Cup and Community Shield.
Ndidi however didn’t have his best year for Leicester as they were relegated into the Championship at the end of the season.
Ndidi, a few years ago had some of the World’s biggest clubs running after him is now surplus to requirements and has now been linked with a move away from the Club.
According to the Daily Mail’s Simon Jones in his Transfer Confidential column, Scottish Premiership Champions, Celtic, are said to be ‘interested’ in bringing Ndidi to Parkhead.
Celtic’s new manager Brendan Rodgers worked with Ndidi at Leicester City and he’s a fan of the defensive midfielder.
The club could offer Ndidi regular Champions League football after qualifying for the group stage because of their Scottish Premiership title.
Celtic however will have to negotiate a transfer fee with Leicester City as Ndidi still has a valid contract until summer in June 2024.
Another stumbling block for Celtic is the player’s wages as he’s one of the highest earners at Leicester City with £80, 000 weekly wages.
