The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus meeting has commenced at the Akwa Ibom State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.
The party leaders are expected to discuss issues related to the constitution of the party’s presidential campaign council.
Another focus in the meeting is how to resolve the internal crisis which might cost the party victory in 2023.
The presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike have been at loggerhead.
The crisis started when Atiku defeated Wike in the presidential primary of the party.
Things, however, got worse when Atiku ignored the nomination of Wike as his running mate and decided to pick the governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa.
At the time of filing this report, those who have arrived for the meeting include the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku, the Chairman and Secretary of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senators Walid Jibrin and Adolphus Wagbara, respectively, Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal and his Bayelsa State counterpart, Duoye Diri as well as the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed.
Others include the deputy Governors of Edo and Benue States, Philip Shuaibu and Benson Abounu respectively among others.
Meanwhile, Governor Wike nor his deputy were not in attendance at the time of filing this report.
